Husson University named Alex Gordon as its women's volleyball head coach on Monday.
Gordon arrives at Husson after serving as an assistant coach at Minot State University — an NCAA Division II member institution — where he worked with both the defense and outside hitters as his primary focus.
"We are delighted to have Alex take over the reins of our volleyball program," said Husson Director of Athletics Frank Pergolizzi.
During his time at Minot State, under Gordon's help both the teams attack percentage and aces per set averages increased from the previous season.
Gordon also assisted with both recruiting, game film and his student-athlete's academic success.
"I am excited to be a part of Husson and want to thank Frank and everyone here for this opportunity," said Gordon. "We have a good group of girls here and I look forward to being their head coach."
Prior to his time at Minot State, he served as an assistant coach at Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts also an NCAA Division II institution where he worked with middle hitters, helping to increase the teams blocks from bottom of the conference to top five within just one season.
Additionally, Gordon helped to increase his teams kills and assists per set and help implement a winning culture throughout the program.
A 2015 graduate of the University of Vermont with a major in biology and a minor in Japanese, Gordon was both a player and manager for the men's club team as well as a high school and club coach.
